BIOGRAPHY AND CONDUCTING REPERTOIRE
Dragomir Todorov Todorov (b. 1984) began to study piano at the age of seven in Lovech, Bulgaria. In 1997, Todorov got accepted as a pianist into the National School of Arts "Panayot Pipkov" in Pleven. Meanwhile, he received piano lessons from Professor Victor Chuchkov, Professor Dora Lazarova, Professor Stella Dimitrova-Maistorova and Senior Lecturer Iliya Chernaev at the National Musical Academy "Pancho Vladigerov" in Sofia. In July 2000, Todorov participated in Professor Boris Bloch's piano master class during the International Music Festival "Varna Summer" in Varna, and in November 2001, he took part in Professor Stella Dimitrova-Maistorova's piano master class in Plovdiv.
Todorov was a chamber pianist, a guest soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Pleven and had solo recitals. He won the second prize in the Fifth "Our Children Play Bach" Piano Competition in Blagoevgrad (April 1996), the "Best Performance of a Romantic Work" award in the Fifth Piano Accompaniment Сompetition in Pleven (April 2001), the third prize in the First "Professor Parashkev Hadjiev" Musical Harmony Competition (a part of the Fifth International Competition "Young Musical Talents") in Sofia (April 2002), and the encouragement awards in the Seventeenth "Svetoslav Obretenov" Competition for Young Musicians and Singers in Provadia (April 2000) and the Eighth Competition for Performance of Works by Czech and Slovak Composers in Varna (March 2001).
In June 2002, Dragomir Todorov completed his secondary education and got accepted into the National Academy of Music "Professor Pancho Vladigerov". Docent Adriana Blagoeva, Professor Virginia Atanassova-Lialios and Professor Plamen Djurov were his first teachers of conducting at the Faculty of Music Theory, Composition and Conducting. Todorov conducted symphonic works and his own orchestrations of piano works performed by the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the National Academy of Music. In February 2007, Dragomir Todorov continued his orchestral conducting training at the New Bulgarian University Department of Music in Sofia with Vesselin Baychev (studied under Professor Konstantin Iliev, Professor Arvid Yansons and Professor Franco Ferrara) and later with Deyan Pavlov (studied under Academician Vassil Kazandjiev, Professor Ivan Vulpe, Professor Boris Hinchev, Professor Karl Österreicher, Professor Heinz Rögner and Professor Ilya Musin). During this period, Todorov worked as a rehearsal pianist at the New Bulgarian University Department of Music. He also was Vesselin Baychev's assistant conductor for the opera productions of W. A. Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte", Gian-Carlo Menotti's "The Telephone", Giorgio Ferrari's "I mantici", G. B. Pergolesi's "Livieta e Tracollo" and others. Dragomir Todorov participated in the Seventh International Master Class for Young Conductors, led by Deyan Pavlov and Professor Narciso Sofia in Vratsa, March 2008, and in August 2009, he took part in the Twenty-Third International Master Class in Orchestral Conducting, "Ilya Musin's Technique", led by Professor Ennio Nicotra in Saint Petersburg.
Todorov received excellent grades for his bachelor's and master's theses: "Ideas for Interval and Rhythmic Sense in Some Twentieth Century Solfeggio Systems, Oriented to the Modern Compositional Techniques" (National Academy of Music "Professor Pancho Vladigerov", 2006); "The Harmonic Style in Krassimir Kyurkchiyski's A Capella Choral Treatments of Bulgarian Folk Songs" (National Academy of Music "Professor Pancho Vladigerov", 2007); "A Conductor's Analysis of Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 4" (New Bulgarian University, 2010) — http://sites.google.com/site/orchestraldirection/system/app/pages/sitemap/list. After his graduation from the New Bulgarian University Department of Music in Mart 2010, he started his career as a guest conductor with Bulgarian orchestras. Since 2016, Dragomir Todorov is represented by the German artist manager David Molnar. Todorov is also a composer and lyricist. In 2016, he signed a cooperation agreement with "Columbes Music Entertainment" (USA) and a recording contract with "Majestic Records" (USA).
